The United States postal service (USPS) jobs are highly coveted due to high job security. Federal jobs offer greater job security as compared to private sector jobs. Searching for a US Postal Service Job
To search for a postal service job, you should use the USPS search engine. The search engine can be accessed by clicking on the Careers link at the bottom of the USPS home page.
You have three options to search for a job. These include:
- Keywords search
- Location search
- Functional area search
Keywords Search
Keyword search allows you to enter any keywords to find an availed post. You can enter the post name, city name, and postal code to search for a postal service job. The field is not case sensitive. This means the same result will show whether you type with caps lock on or off.
You can also Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) to narrow your search. Also, you can enclose two or more words in quotes (" " or ' ') to refine the search results. For instance, if you want to search for a mail career job, you can write 'mail carrier'. This will present a list of mail carrier jobs. If you want to find two jobs, you can write 'mail carrier' AND 'mail clerk'. Additionally, if you want to exclude a job post, you can write 'mail carrier' AND 'mail clerk' AND NOT 'rural carrier'.
Location Search
In the location search, you should select the state for postal employment opportunities. The search result will show available posts in the state you select in the location search category. If you want to search for a postal service job in multiple states, you should hold the CTRL key and then select different states.
Functional Area Search
Last, the functional area search category allows you to look for a specific work area. For instance, you can select Administrative Support, Finance & Accounting, HR, IT, or Sales job. There are a total of 25 functional areas. As in the location search categories, you can select multiple categories by holding the CTRL key when selecting the functional area.
